Yawny At The Apocolypse

For my cares and lac there of.

5 Tracks

Having spent the last weekend getting acquainted with the studio experience, I now have 5 songs of my own recorded, unmastered and potentially fixer upper’s… but I’m very pleased with the product I’ll use as an EP in the meantime while I continue to record and complete a full length album.

Being in Carp at Shattered Wings Studio was such a thrill for me because I was able to experiment and begin learning the language of sound communication. I forget not everyone hears the same tone, levels, style, vibe or orchestrations I have playing in my head when I perform my own songs, and I hadn’t realized how important it is to learn to effectively communicate them. Even hard as I try, it’s never quite the same but I love trying to get them there.

Lindsey Ralph, a good friend of mine and talented Ottawa photographer, who also shot the pictures for my last EP a few years back, came over the other day for a last minute quick shoot for the front and back of the cd case. When I have all the songs recorded we’ll do another shoot, one much more interesting, experimental and exciting. I love collaborating with Lindsey because she’s professional, efficient, a great director. It’s sometimes difficult for me to let loose and be natural in front of a camera but she’s got the grace that makes you feel great in your own skin and confident in the finished product.
